The people behind Whitbourne Mugworks.
Based in the village community of Whitbourne in Herefordshire, Whitbourne Mugworks is a typical small business where there are no set working hours other than all day and all night and where most of the time you will reach a human being if you telephone us (though occasionally you'll reach the messaging machine and we'll call you back as soon as we can).
Whitbourne lies midway between Worcester and Leominster in the Herefordshire countryside - and is almost unknown to the big wide world. Yet it was the setting where, in around the year 1600, Francis Godwin wrote the first ever science fiction book, The Man in the Moon. Some 70 years before Isaac Newton watched the apple fall and "discovered" gravity, Godwin described in the book "... a secret property that pulls things towards the earth, but which get weaker with distance and has no power in space ...". Gravity !!!!
The other thing that puts Whitbourne on the map is Whitbourne Mugworks.
The principle of the business is Keith Butler, supported by his accountant wife Lynn. On the production side Adam and Nick, who are both full time students, help out between uni/college assignments and sporting activity, playing Rugby and Football respectively - both also being qualified coaches.

Keith has a long sporting pedigree having worked for MCC at Lord's, Worcestershire County Cricket Club, has merchandised for Goodyear in Formula 1 and was Commercial Manager at Gravesend and Northfleet FC (long before it became Ebbsfleet United) Rochdale, Hereford United, Cardiff City and Wolverhampton Wanderers Football Clubs as well as building and running The Cricket Shop at Edgbaston for Warwickshire County Cricket Club over a ten year period.
Lynn is a member of AAT and an experienced administrator and book keeper.
Adam is now a rugby coach at Worcester Royal Grammar School and also works on the coaching staff at Premership Worcester Warriors.
The picture above shows the mugs produced for Stowupland Falcons Football Club, a football club with senior, veterans and thriving junior sections. The mug was commisioned by the junior section who chose the same basic design for two styles of mug - one with a blue background, the other white. 60 mugs for £160-00 (including delivery)

Our first ever order from a Speedway club came towards the end of the 2008 season from Weymouth Wildcats.
Our Speedway portfolio now also includes Eastbourne, Workington Comets, Newport Wasps, Newcastle, Kings Lynn Stars, Swindon Robins, Birmingham Brummies and Belle Vue Aces.

This mug made for Ampthill Town Cricket Club started out as a bit of a problem - because the Club didn't have a graphic of the Club Badge. So we scanned the badge from a shirt to create this original design for the mug. The mug sold out and was then re-ordered - before we even got to the cricket season!

A customer local to Whitbourne Mugworks, Brockhampton Cricket Club regularly hosts the matches of Herefordshire County Cricket Club in the Minor Counties League as well as being a successful Birmingham League side in its own right.

Sports Coaching of Dursley in Gloucestershire produced it's own artwork for this promotional mug.
DELIVERY
Delivery is always a problem - because it is a necessary cost that has to be covered but which can impact on the unit price of the mug. We do not regard delivery as a profit centre, so all we do is pass on the cost. At present we use UK MAIL who have given us a excellent service.
Although subject to change we hope to keep our delivery charges at the same levels based on the following ... 12-72 mugs £11-25; 73-144 mugs £18-50 & 145-249 mugs £22-50. Over 250 mugs we will cost the delivery individually.
But, and it's a BIG BUT ...
.... in most cases we quote to include delivery as most of our clients like to know an "all in" price with no added extras. And our "all in" quotes normally will include a discount on the the standard price if taken directly from our price list.
